About Faith in Action Faith in Action, is a nationwide network of interfaith volunteer care-giving programs. These programs bring together volunteers of many faiths to provide care for their neighbors who have long-term health needs. Since 1983, more than 1,100 Faith in Action programs have been established across the country. Faith in Action of Hendricks County helps people in the community who have long-term health needs maintain their independence for as long as possible by providing non-medical assistance with daily activities. Volunteers provide home-based care for neighbors who struggle with the frailties of old age; chronic illness such as diabetes, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, cancer, kidney disease, mental illness; and permanent disabilities. Faith in Action also reaches out to those who are disadvantaged, with the hope of providing relief and encouragement toward recovery and independence. Faith in Action volunteers extend a ministry of care-giving in a variety of ways. Activities may include shopping for groceries, providing rides to medical appointments, cooking meals, doing light housework, running errands, and providing companionship through visiting or phoning. Volunteers also may provide respite care and relief for family caregivers. Faith in Action of Hendricks County is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization governed by a volunteer board of directors and administered by a program director. Our mission is to form an effective coalition of faith communities to provide home-based volunteer services, care, and companionship for those who are frail or needy as well as those who have chronic health conditions or disabilities in the Greater Hendricks County area. |
